Miss Kitty, hospital mascot
Meet Miss Kitty. She came to us with a broken leg and an attitude to match. Because of her broken leg, she has some trust issues, but once she befriends you she is bonded for life. You can often spot her hanging in our reception area or sitting in an open doorway catching some rays.
Monique, Regional Manager
Monique has many years experience working in one capacity or another at Veterinay hospitals. Somehow she ended up at San Mateo Animal Hospital where her work ethic and leadership skills began to shine. She was asked to manage San Mateo Animal Hospital and she accepted the position with honor.
In the time she has been with us she has made many positive changes and continues to build a strong team of individuals who constantly and consistently strive to raise the bar of veterinary care higher than ever. San Mateo Animal Hospital is fortunate to have Monique and if you ask her? She is grateful to be put in the position where she can make a difference to our clients and patients every day. Most recently she became the Regional Manager of all of our hospitals so we all can continue to grow and maintain our consistency in making sure our patients always come first!
Monique is a woman with boundless energy. In addition to her demanding position as Regional Manager of three busy veterinary hospitals, she somehow finds time to create adorable and smile inducing painted rocks. She does this at her own expense and donates all the proceeds to our Second Chance Fund which provides financial assistance to clients with pets in need of emergency care.
Thank you Monique!
Lan, Practice Manager
Lan is our new Practice Manager and has been with us for many years. Lan has worked at various
Veterinary Hospitals on the Peninsula and brings loads of knowledge and managerial experience with her.
Lan started working with us as a highly experienced receptionist. She displays a calm friendly attitude and genuinely loves our clients and their pets (our patients). If you need anything at all ask Lan, she’ll get it for you and if she can’t then she knows someone who will!
Lan has 2 beautiful daughters. When she returned from maternity leave with her youngest daughter we decided to offer her our Reception Manager position, which she gladly accepted. Her attention to detail, ability to communicate, organizational skills, pleasant demeanor and work ethic make her a valuable asset to our team.
As most of you know, Lan Heng has been a huge part of the SMAH team. She has been with us for more than 5 years and during that time she has learned a great deal and has become a tremendous asset to the hospital. Lan is hard working, professionaI and is committed to providing the absolute best in client service. I am pleased to announce that she has been promoted to Practice Manager at San Mateo Animal Hospital!!!
Lan resides in Hayward with her new husband, 2 beautiful little girls (human) and a passel of animals. In her spare time (can you believe she actually has some?) she is a scrapbook aficionado, you can see her handiwork displayed in our lobby for our Pet-Of-The-Month, an avid e-bay shopper but her main priority is taking care of her beautiful family.
We are so grateful that Lan is a part of our San Mateo Animal Hospital team.
Kathryn, Receptionist
As a receptionist, Kathryn is passionate about animals
and customer care. She started her experience in the
veterinary field as a receptionist in 2002.
She has been at San Mateo Animal Hospital since September
2011 and is happy to be with part of our team as well as
helping you and your pets.
Kathryn has a devoted dog named Scooby and two sweet
kitties, Jade and Bud. "I am so grateful to be helping
people and animals, I get the best of both worlds."
Rita, RVT and Lead Nurse
Rita has been at San Mateo Animal Hospital since 2000. She started fresh out of high school with a mind like a sponge and a genuine love for animals.
Rita was actually a client before she started working with us. She brought her beloved dog CiCi in for an exam, started discussing her love of animals with the owner of the practice at that time and he hired her right on the spot! He took her under his wing and taught her everything she knows and that is a lot!
Her technical skills, attention to detail, quick thinking and positive out look make her a valued member of our team. She has a natural affinity for pets and quit often can calm the most difficult patients with her calm and gentle demeanor. Rita enjoys animal dentistry and we consider her our very own expert on the subject. As an animal nurse she exceeds our expectations daily. Because of all that Rita makes an exceptional team leader. Under her guidance San Mateo Animal Hospital has the best veterinary nurses.
When not working at San Mateo Animal Hospital Rita creates the most beautiful, natural bead jewelry, she is learning the fine art of cooking and baking, which we all appreciate.
San Mateo Animal hospital would not be the same without her expertise and we are honored that she chooses to work with us.
Eunyoung, RVT
Eunyoung is awesome! She has many years experience
working at various veterinary hospitals.
When Eunyoung takes care of your pet, you know that
the best nursing care is being given. Many patients
have been nurtured back to health due to her compassion and gentle demeanor. We are fortunate that she has chosen to work with our team.
In her spare time Eunyoung is an avid reador of books,
spends time visiting in L.A. with her new neice and
hangs out with her two dogs, "Maxi" and "Larry"
Jackie, Vet Asst.
Jackie is the newest member of our team and has
fit in quit nicely. Her compassionate nature
towards animals is very much appreciated.
Jackie recently graduated from college where she has been studying microbiology, so she's not just another pretty face!
In her spare time Jackie likes to read, spend time
traveling, and hanging out with her human and furry
friends.
